Which funding options can I find at grants.at?

grants.at includes all grants, scholarships and research funding known to us – and relevant for Austria – on the institutional, municipal, provincial, federal, EU and international level and also those of private providers of funding (e.g. foundations, companies).

Grants provided by the higher education institutions can only partly be found in grants.at; they appear at the end of the results list. Detailed information about these is available from the relevant offices of the Austrian and foreign universities (e.g. International Office, Research Services).

Is it possible to search for all funding options of a specific Austrian funding organisation?

Yes, please choose the funding organisation of your choice at the end of the entry page of grants.at.

What can I do if I do not find any suitable grant in grants.at?

In grants.at you can find all grant options we know of. This, however, does not mean that there are no others. In any case you should also enquire at your university/university of applied sciences or the university of your choice in another country. For studies/research abroad the first point of contact are the foreign diplomatic representations in Austria.

In some cases, however, no grants are available – which is often the case for private educational institutions.

Future doctoral candidates and researchers can find fellowships and jobs in the Job database of Euraxess - Researchers in Motion. Other grants databases can be found here.

Can I submit my application at grants.at?

No. Applications for many grants at grants.at must be submitted online at www.scholarships.at – at “Closing date for applications” you will find the link “apply online”. Information about where you have to submit your application is available at “Where to submit your application” in the details view of each grant.

Who runs grants.at?

grants.at is an initiative of

  • Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW)
  • OeAD-GmbH — Austria's Agency for Education and Internationalisation

and it has been expanded with financial support of the EU.

The OeAD and 29 other grant-awarding authorities make sure that the information at grants.at is always up to date.

Who can answer my questions regarding a specific grant?

If you have any questions about a specific grant / scholarship / research grant please directly contact the authority awarding the grant or the person mentioned as contact person in the grant details. The OeAD cannot provide any detailed information about grants of other funding authorities!
